When I moved in with my partner in October 1993, we had a dog soon after. His name was Smokey, he was 3 months old, he was my best mate, I absolutely adored him. It was shortlived though, because at just 6 months old he died from parvo virus, I was devastated. Unfortunately I do not have any photos of him, just memories. We also had Buffy about a month after we had Smokey, they were best mates. We took Buffy off the streets after somebody just dumped him, he was just 6 months old. He unfortunately started to become ill in September 2007, he was diagnosed with kidney failure. In February 2008, he had to be put to sleep, that was the hardest decision I have ever had to make, and a day I will never forget. He was 13 and a half, but still looked young for his age, but age was against him.
I have a 6 year old cat, and when she was just one years old, she got pregnant. She had 4 kittens altogether, and they were totally adorable, but one died at birth. The other three seemed fit and healthy, very playful. Then when they were about 4 weeks old, one of them became ill, and died within a day, then the other two died not long after, they all died within a week. They had died from cat flu, the vet said that the mother was probably carrying the cat flu, and passed it onto them. So we had to have her spayed, so that she couldn't have anymore. To see tiny kittens just die like that was really heartbreaking.
We bought our daughter a pet rabbit for her 6th birthday in 2005, we called her Snowy. She was black and white, a little cutie. Our daughter loved her so much, but she suddenly died 9 days before Christmas 2007. It was an absolute shock, because she seemed really fit and well, nothing out of the ordinary at all. My daughter and I were devastated, Snowy was only 17 months old.
We have had a few rats aswell, two sisters who died within days of each other, and another who sadly died at 7 months old.
I really miss each and everyone of them, not a day goes by I don't think about them, but I know they are altogether looking after each other.
I have had my fair share of heartache when it comes to losing a pet, it has brought tears to my eyes to write this, but I wanted to share it with you, and hope that you can too.
There are some photos of Buffy and Snowy on the next page.
Thankyou
